Here are the changes to advancement effective 1/1/2010.  After 1/1/2010, Scouts may complete the rank they are working on using the old requirements and handbook.  After that, the new handbook and requirements must be used.

Here is a link to a description of the insurance coverage offered to troops and chartered organization. The troop must file and have approved a tour permit before embarking on any campout or activity for the activity to be considered “official.” As stated on the Patriot’s Path Council website:

A tour permit that has been filed with and approved by the local Scout Council prior to the activity registers the activity as an official Scouting activity. Insurance coverage only applies to official Scouting activities.

Here is a description of the insurance coverage that is provided by the Atlanta Area Council.  Check the council’s website for the most recent description.

Effective June 1, 2010, the BSA is now requiring all adult leaders to complete Youth Protection Training.  Training must be renewed every two years. The troop will hold weekly Scout meetings on Tuesdays from 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm starting in the new Scouting year.
